YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

"You go into a courtroom and you will see lawyers who know the law and have dozens of kids' files, or you have social workers who know the regulations and have dozens of kids' files. But if a CASA volunteer is in the room, you will see they have just one file, and what they know is that one child. And that can make all of the difference to a judge's decision regarding how the rest of that child's life is going to go.

- Anna Quindlen, Pulitzer Prize winner and author

CASA VOLUNTEERS

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are volunteers who work on behalf of children removed from their homes because of neglect or abuse.

CASA volunteers are sworn officers of the court, and conduct their advocacy duties within the boundaries of a court order.

A CASA is assigned one child or sibling set and devotes three or more hours per week to research and contact with foster parents, case workers, lawyers, therapists, and teachers. They conduct visits with the children and creates reports for the overseeing judge.
